Today’s work environments are complex. Teams represent a diverse range of ages, skill levels, geographic locations and agendas. Leaders are expected to bring their teams together to work toward a common goal and deliver results. And as leadership roles expand, so do expectations for performance – often within the same title and time constraints.
When you’re in a position of leadership, you shape the outlook of your team members and set expectations through everything you do. The way you show up and engage with your teams has a direct impact on their engagement and productivity, and on your organization's ability to deliver sustainable results.
New leaders are often removed from the tasks that got them promoted – and they need to be, to see the big picture. Their role is to support, develop and guide their teams to accomplish the goals of the organization.
But if you were once in the role of the people you now oversee, it can be challenging to disconnect from that mindset. If there’s a culture of fear in an organization, it can be difficult to find ways to positively influence and empower your people. And it’s often all too easy to slip into a transactional relationship with your team. Leaders can end up focused solely on results and lose sight of the personal connections that are so critical to engaging their teams to work toward common goals.
Leadership coaching helps leaders find ways to feel equally passionate and engaged about both sides of the equation – results and the people who drive them. They learn how to shape a work environment that’s safe, open and challenging for their teams – one where their people can contribute thoughts and ideas, know they’re heard and feel motivated to do their best work.
Through coaching, leaders gain awareness about themselves, their people and their business. They learn to recognize new opportunities, adopt new behaviors and make decisions that support their goals – and reap the rewards that come from making choices with intention, both for themselves and for their organization.
This is your journey. You’re the expert when it comes to you, your business and your future. For my part, I’m the expert in the process. I offer insights, concepts and tools, but ultimately, you’re in charge of using those to take you where you are today to where you want to be in the future.
Lewis Clark once said, "If you don't know where you’re going, any road will take you there."
Like any great and worthy journey, yours starts with gaining clarity on what your future destination will look like, sound like and feel like – according to your personal definition of “success.” And it’s just as important to truly understand your "WHY.” Why is taking this journey and arriving at your desired destination important to you? What's in it for you, your business and the people that matter most?
Using your own insights and feedback, as well as assessment tools such as the Energy Leadership Index and Values and DiSC assessments, I’ll help you understand the strengths and behavioral preferences that have gotten you where you are today. We may also uncover internal and external blocks that create stress and worry, which can get in the way of achieving your most fulfilling and purposeful goals.
Throughout your journey, we’ll meet to discover opportunities, establish goals, identify and overcome barriers and limiting beliefs, consider and choose options, and build a plan of action. The purpose of this plan, and each of our conversations, is to align your energy, thoughts and actions toward the achievement of your future success.
As a coach, my role is to facilitate the process of self-discovery, uncover possibilities and potential, and help you build your plan of action. But you have the full power of choice to determine what goes into your plan and how – or if – it gets executed.
As a fully vested partner in your success, it’s my role to hold you accountable for the choices you make. Not from a place of judgment, but from a supportive intention. It’s through the execution that we’ll recognize and celebrate your successes – and discover new frontiers and possibilities.
As a development coach, I’m passionate about working with leaders; it’s where the greatest possibility exists within any organization.
My clients include motivated individuals who are responsible for casting vision, setting strategy and influencing how their organizations function. While they represent a wide variety of industries, my clients all share one thing in common: the desire and commitment to become more influential as a leader than they are now.
Many of my clients hire me directly, while other coaching engagements are structured as part of an ongoing leadership and development training program.
In my many years as a leadership and development professional, I’ve learned an important fact: Leadership is transferable. While the details may change, the challenges, goals, fears and aspirations leaders face look and feel the same across industries. No matter what product or service you sell, the core capacities to influence, inspire and enroll followers are transferable and applicable.
How can your unique gifts, insights and perspective have the greatest impact on the organization in which you work? As a coach, it’s my job to help leaders find out – to discover their own possibilities and guide them to make powerful choices that lead to greater levels of success and a life of purpose, joy and prosperity.
From pharmaceuticals and IT to food services and wealth management, I’ve worked with leaders across all levels of organizations and industries, helping them elevate their influence, build successful teams and create strategies to drive results.
I’ve developed practical training programs for the global business community and provided curriculum development and program facilitation for companies focused on enhancing the performance of their leaders. After serving as Director of Leadership Development at Pfizer and Vice President of Professional Development at Ther-Rx Corporation, my passion for leadership coaching and development led me to Eagle’s Flight, a world leader in organizational training and development programs.
My work as an independent consultant and facilitator has included building an innovation culture within a pet food manufacturing company, instilling a safety culture within pharmaceutical manufacturing and gas service organizations, and working to transform the leadership culture within an IT organization in the midst of transition.
As a coach, consultant and facilitator, I’m known for my ability to connect easily with my clients while challenging them in ways that facilitates learning and positions them to choose to become the leaders they want to be.
